(Montreal, QC – April 13th, 2023) – TheraPsil, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting legal access to psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy in Canada, is pleased to announce its very first bilingual training cohort for the Fundamentals of Psilocybin Assisted Psychotherapy program.
This training program is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to offer safe and effective psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy to clients with legal exemptions to use psilocybin to treat mental health conditions. The bilingual cohort will take place from September 18-22, 2023, in Montreal, and will be led by Dr. Jean-François Stephan, a recognized expert in the field of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
TheraPsil’s bilingual training program is an exciting opportunity for healthcare practitioners to contribute to the growth of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in Quebec. This training cohort is particularly special as it is the first time TheraPsil will be offering its training program in French, providing a unique opportunity for French-speaking professionals to learn and engage in this emerging field.
In addition, Quebec made history in 2022 as the first province to cover psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy under RAMQ (Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec), as two physicians, Dr. Stephan & Dr. Houman Farzin, were publicly funded to support patients with legal exemptions to use psilocybin. The move marked an important milestone in the recognition of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) as an effective and safe medicine for patients with treatment-resistant mental health conditions.
