Julie Giroux, is a psychotherapist and registered clinical counsellor (RCC) working in private practice in Saanich BC. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology & Psychotherapy (2014) as well as a degree in Occupational Therapy (2001).  Her clinical practice is focused on trauma therapy and helping individuals heal from the effects of chronic stress, life-threatening illness, pain, adverse early life experiences and occupational stress injuries.

Julie first became interested in the potential of psychedelics when studying psychology and philosophy in the early 1990s. She has remained curious about what these substances offer in the realm of healing on an individual level as well as their contribution to a greater depth of understanding of life itself. Her personal development and explorations have included other forms of altered states of consciousness including Holotropic Breathwork and meditative practices.

Julie’s therapeutic approach prioritizes what is important and meaningful to each individual. Her professional training includes: Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, EMDR therapy (including Attachment-Focused EMDR), Reconsolidation Therapy for PTSD, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) group facilitation and Focusing. Although these and many other therapy modalities can be incredibly helpful, many people continue to have severe symptoms and impact on their daily lives. MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy offers new hope for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder for individuals who continue to experience significant symptoms after trying conventional therapies.

Julie’s psychedelic-related training includes harm reduction and integration therapy with Fluence, Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy with Dr. Bruce Tobin in 2022 and MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy with Dr. Ingrid Pacey in 2024 through TheraPsil.
