Experiential learning is a cornerstone of ethical psychedelic care. Understanding the inner terrain of these experiences helps practitioners offer safer, more compassionate support to patients.
While Canada has no regulated training framework for psilocybin yet, TheraPsil is actively working through the courts to change that. The first 19 healthcare professionals in our program were granted legal exemptions to participate in experiential learning. Since then, all similar applications have been denied without clear justification.
*Update, June 2025: The Federal Court of Appeal ruled in favour of TheraPsil and its trainees, finding the denial of training exemptions to be unreasonable. The matter has been sent back to the Minister of Health for reconsideration.
