Write to the Minister of Health
Canadians in medical need are waiting, some for more than 300 days, for a response to their psilocybin applications. Your voice can help change that. Send the letter below to Minister Marjorie Michel. It takes about two minutes.

Two bills, one moment to act
Access has gone backwards. A 2025 analysis of Health Canada records found psilocybin approvals through the Special Access Program had dropped by roughly half year over year, with growing delays. Two bills now before Parliament could finally fix this, and the letter below asks Minister Michel to support both.

What you'll be sending
Dear Minister Michel,
I urge the Canadian government, and you as Federal Minister of Health, to legalize psychedelics for medical purposes and to create regulations governing medical access and use.
The current legal pathways to medical psychedelics and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (Section 56 exemptions, clinical trials, and the Special Access Program) are inadequate and do not meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
Some patients wait more than 300 days for a response to their applications. Others never receive one. This is an unacceptable way to access healthcare, and no patient's request for compassionate care should be ignored. You can read about the challenges patients face in these articles:
- CBC: Terminal cancer patient denied magic mushrooms after Health Canada rule change
- The Sarnia Journal: Sarnia's Pete Pearson approved for death in weeks but denied therapy to help him live
- Toronto Star: These patients are considering MAiD. They say Canada has made it harder to access magic mushrooms, a treatment giving them reason to live
Canadians living with end-of-life distress, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, cluster headaches, and other conditions deserve access to legal psychedelic therapy, and the current pathways are failing them.
Canadians in medical need should be able to see a physician or nurse practitioner involved in their care, be prescribed this treatment, and access regulated psychedelic products from Health Canada approved licensed dealers and trained healthcare professionals.
The decision to access psychedelic-assisted therapy is a medical one. It belongs with healthcare providers, not administrators and politicians. Like access to medical cannabis and MAiD, access to psychedelic-assisted therapy is a constitutional right, and Section 7 Charter rights are currently being violated.
As a Canadian, I am counting on you to:
- Commit to regulatory change so that access to psychedelic therapy for medical purposes becomes a safe and accessible treatment option for all Canadians in medical need.
- Support the two bills now before Parliament that would improve medical psilocybin access: Bill C-265 (MP Marcus Powlowski), which would reform the Special Access Program, and Bill C-286, "Thomas' Bill" (MP Corey Tochor), which would create a regulated prescribing pathway.
- Learn more by meeting with registered lobbyist and patient rights advocate Spencer Hawkswell. Email spencer@therapsil.ca (cc john@therapsil.ca) with the subject line "MP Meeting - Psychedelic Therapy."
There is no time to waste. This issue is urgent.
Thank you for your support. I look forward to your reply.
