Train in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy

Our MDMA training is offered through immersive, in-person programs. Check the eligibility criteria below, and if you can’t make these dates, join our mailing list to stay updated on future training opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. A medical degree (MD, RN), a graduate degree (MA, Ph.D.) in psychology, counselling psychology, or a closely related field (e.g., psychiatric social work [RSW] or psychiatric nursing [RPN]), naturopathic medicine (ND), paramedicine (e.g., paramedics, first responders), death doula training, or a graduate diploma in a related field;
  2. Current good standing as a professional member of an association with a Code of Ethics and a disciplinary body.

**Requirements 1 and 2 above may be relaxed to allow those in the process of completing a graduate clinical degree or professional registration, non-clinical psychologists (e.g. educational or research psychologists), and credentialed spiritual/pastoral counsellors to attend a seminar in situations where a cohort is short one or two fully qualified clinical entrants prior to delivery.

  • Preference will be given to TheraPsil Affiliates who have completed (Units 1-10) of TheraPsil’s Fundamentals of Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy training program;
    • Applicants who have not completed Units 1-10 of TheraPsil’s Fundamentals Program will need to engage in a more extensive application process and will be interviewed by one of TheraPsil’s trainers. 
  • Preference will be given to applicants who already have some personal or professional psychedelic experience and have been onboarded to TheraPsil’s Practitioner Directory.

Graduation Requirements

  • Completion of in-person training seminar (Units 1-9), full attendance is required;
  • Certification of completion of readings and videos;
  • Personal MDMA-assisted psychotherapy experience (Unit 10)
  • Clinical Supervision (Unit 11);
  • Documentation of a minimum of five years of experience as a full-time mental health clinician. (A psychiatric residency counts towards this requirement)
  • At the conclusion of training, trainees will meet individually (in-person or via Zoom) with their principal trainer for a final, individualized assessment session involving all aspects of trainee learning. Trainees assessed as ready for practice will be awarded a Certificate of Completion of TheraPsil’s MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy Training Program.

In-Person Seminar: 25.5 hours

  • Participant Perspectives and Lived Experience Expertise with MDMA Therapy for PTSD: 1 hour
  • Psychedelic Neuropharmacology: 1.5 hours

Readings/Videos: 48 hours

Trainee Psychedelic Experience (Unit 10): 34 hours

Practicum (Unit 11): 12 hours

Supervision (Unit 12): 10 hours
