TheraPsil Brings Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy Training to New Mexico in Partnership with Sol Tryp
Las Cruces, NM / Vancouver, BC, September 16, 2026 — TheraPsil is pleased to announce the launch of its first in-person training program in New Mexico, USA, in partnership with Las Cruces-based Sol Tryp. The inaugural cohort begins November 6, 2026, in Las Cruces, preparing New Mexico practitioners to deliver psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy within the state's medical psilocybin program.
The program is purpose-built for New Mexico's Medical Psilocybin Act, one of the first state-regulated frameworks of its kind in the United States. It prepares licensed clinicians, practitioners, facilitators, and other eligible professionals, including spiritual care providers and Indigenous and cultural practitioners, to deliver or support this care within the state's regulated system.
Spencer Hawkswell, CEO, TheraPsil said,
“We've spent years training the practitioners behind Canada's access movement, and building the curriculum and clinical standards underneath it. Bringing that experience to New Mexico, in partnership with Sol Tryp, is exactly what TheraPsil exists to do. Delivering this care asks a lot of the people who provide it, and our goal is that every practitioner leaves ready to hold that responsibility well.”
The training pairs TheraPsil's clinical curriculum, developed and refined across hundreds of Canadian practitioners since 2021, with a supervised practicum delivered at Sol Tryp's purpose-built Las Cruces facility. The syllabus is pending final approval from the New Mexico Department of Health, and TheraPsil and Sol Tryp are working with the department's Training and Education Committee to finalize it.
Dr. Deb Thorne, CEO and Medical Director of Sol Tryp, who will also serve as the program's principal trainer, reflected on what the partnership means:
“The New Mexico Medical Psilocybin Program was first envisioned, in part, by looking to TheraPsil and Health Canada's Special Access Program as living examples of how people could access psilocybin in a safe, therapeutic, and responsible way. It is deeply meaningful to see that journey come full circle as we now welcome TheraPsil to New Mexico to help train the next generation of psilocybin prescribers and facilitators. For me personally, this partnership represents far more than a training program. It is a powerful reminder of how an idea, nurtured through years of advocacy, collaboration, and persistence, can ultimately become something that serves an entire community.”
Applications for the inaugural cohort are open now. Learn more about the training at therapsil.ca/psilocybin-therapy-training-new-mexico.
