After an 11-month wait, Pete was denied access to psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy to relieve end-of-life distress.

Pete’s Section 56 request has now been refused. He remains approved for MAiD, while still being denied access to psilocybin-assisted therapy to ease end-of-life distress.

I am writing regarding Mr. Pete Pearson of Sarnia, a 75-year-old Canadian living with a terminal illness.
Pete was denied access to psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy through the Special Access Program. His Section 56 request has also not resulted in access, leaving him without a legal pathway to receive this therapy.
At the same time, Pete has been approved for MAiD.
I am asking your office to reconsider and to establish a clear, compassionate access pathway for end-of-life care, so patients are not forced into impossible positions.
